Second Annual Shop with a Cop

December 17th held the second annual Laramie Shop with a Cop. Laramie Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and University of Wyoming Police Department teamed participated in the event held at WalMart.

30 elementary students from Albany County School Districts were picked up at their schools by an officer and taken to Walmart Laramie in a patrol vehicle. Some children got to call in to dispatch on the patrol vehicle radios and of course, sirens were heard. Each student received $150 to shop with a cop.

Shop with a Cop is an event to give to children in need and provide them with a positive experience with law enforcement. Each family was provided a turkey, a ham, green bean casserole fixings, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, a gallon of milk, and other items to make a holiday dinner at home. Donations for this event were provided by generous donors including Walmart, local businesses, community members, The Wyoming Hunger Initiative, The Hilton Garden Inn, Hysong Memorial Fundraiser, and the Laramie Police Department Foundation.

Special thanks to Officer Alex Bailey and Assistant Chief of Police Robert Terry who led the coordination of this wonderful event.
